- Initial Notification
Equip Studio's BIM Manager will notify consultants once the first Revit service pack has been released. This notification will include a list of projects currently in collaboration with each consultant. Please consult the timeline above for key dates.
Occasionally, there will be projects that will NOT be upgraded on the timeline given due to circumstances, such as impending deadlines. Those affected by these projects will be notified and a modified project-specific timeline will be set up.
2. Pre-Upgrade Items
It is recommended that each consultant download a local copy of one of their current projects and test upgrade it to check for discipline specific errors or issues. Equip will test upgrade models on our end looking for issues that may affect models and drawings, however, it is the responsibility of each consultant to check their models and drawings for issues that may occur during the upgrade process. If there are any concerns with upgrading, please notify Equip immediately.
If a local backup file is desired prior to the upgrade, please ensure that this backup file is created prior to 12 pm (EST) on the day of the upgrade. During the upgrade, Equip will create a copy of each team's model that will remain in the previous version of Revit. These files can be downloaded once the upgrade is complete, if necessary. They will be located in a folder titled "Archive" under each team's space and will retain the file name associated with the previous version of Revit.
3. Upgrade Items
The upgrades will begin at 12 pm (EST) on the scheduled day and should be complete by 7 am (EST) the next work day, see timeline above. During this time, Equip's BIM Team will upgrade all models (both Equip's and all consultant's models stored on BIM360) through the BIM360 web interface. No models are to be accessed during this time.
During the upgrade process, Equip will rename models to reflect the new version of Revit. All models should align with the proper naming convention outlined under Setup.
4. Post-Upgrade Items
During the upgrade, Equip will share and consume updated model packages for all teams. As teams begin working after the upgrade, the following tasks will need to be completed by each team:
Reload all linked files. The old links will automatically be unloaded during the upgrade process.
Ensure all links reference a model with a 2021 designator.
If desired, go to the "Archive" folder in your team's space and download the backup file for the previous version.
A detailed error report for all models will automatically be generated during the upgrade process. This can be found under the "General" folder in a sub-folder named "Revit Upgrade Report".
